Position purpose:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Instrumentation, the technician is responsible for installing, programming, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and replacing all security equipment and systems. This position also performs restorative, corrective and preventative actions to the integrated security systems which includes alarms, cameras and card access. Also provides customer service, support, training and information to staff on proper use of the security system and its various components.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
  • Security Systems Installation: Verifies new security systems for proper functioning. Participates in the operations of cabling and installing at related facilities. Completes performance tests of all new installation ensuring proper operation and coverage. Ensures inventory exists and installs new cables in buildings, cable risers, and cable trays as required. Coordinates and schedules work to fit timelines on minor and major construction projects. Ensures that all work and equipment meet established industry, ULC standards, fire and building code standards. Coordinate work of external contractors on projects as required.
  • Security Systems Maintenance: Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, upgrades, optimizes, and enhances the security systems network. Verifies the integrity of the security system daily and ensures that reported deficiencies are repaired. Tracks all repairs and ensures billing details are provided for cost recovery. Ensures that all work and equipment meet established industry, ULC standards, fire and building code standards.
  • Customer Service and Support: Answers questions, provides information and resolves issues and concerns. Provides end user training to customers, clients and staff on security systems. Assist external contract workers. Creates technical documentation, instructions and operating procedures to support security systems. Assists in the preparation and administration of security system courses for all staff.
What you will bring:
  • A college diploma in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years field related experience with enterprise class security systems, would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of security concepts.
  • Knowledge of Closed-Circuit Television Systems (CCTV).
  • Experience in installation and maintenance of integrated card access systems.
  • Experience in programming machine level code for alarm panels.
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking to break down complex problems into more manageable problems and tasks.
  • Is able to work flexible work hours and be available for on-call emergencies that may occasionally be required.
  • The candidate shall not have any convictions for which a pardon has not been granted and shall not have any record of offences related to the job.
  • Bilingualism - French and English (spoken and written) preferred.
