Meadow Lake is located in west central Saskatchewan in the beautiful boreal forest area, where outdoor enthusiasts thrive on the abundant nature of rural Saskatchewan.SAFETY COORDINATORMeadow Lake Mechanical Pulp has an immediate opportunity for a Safety Coordinator.The Safety Coordinator provides expertise and guidance to all levels of management to promote a culture that ensures the highest standards of safety, occupational health and training. The incumbent will be at ease engaging with workers and management, with duties ranging from office to shop floor.Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a safety culture that encourages individual responsibility and personal commitment.
  • Provide professional knowledge and expertise in the leadership and coordination of all occupational health and safety programs to ensure continuous improvement with the safety and wellbeing of employees.
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance departments to support safety programs and planning for shutdowns, commissioning, incident investigations, hazard assessments.
  • Resource for the site Occupational Health & Safety Committee, facilitate safety orientation and onboarding.
  • Responsible for the coordination of Emergency Response Services for the site, including fire, rescue, and first aid.
Qualifications
  • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum five (5) years directly related experience in Occupational Health & Safety in an Industrial setting.
  • Fluid working knowledge of OHS Saskatchewan Regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability in WCB case management.
  • A combination of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make quick decisions as well as having a high sense of urgency with regards to safety improvements.
  • Experience in Emergency Response programs would be an asset.
