About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), and under the direction of the Research Manager, the Research Coordinator will coordinate FORBOW at our New Glasgow site. The Research Coordinator will contribute to the research study by assisting with recruitment, scheduling of appointments, administration of tests and interviews, collection of biological samples, data collection, study administration, by providing administrative support and entering study data, and community outreach. It will involve coordinating with other health-care professionals and departments such as IT. FORBOW aims to identify risk in youth at an early stage when pre-emptive interventions may prevent the development of mental illness. FORBOW involves children and youth (age 1 - 29 years) and their parents, some of whom are living with mental illness (depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia). This challenging position offers opportunities for training, and professional growth.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to coordinate the Families Overcoming Risks and Building Opportunities for Well-being (FORBOW) project at our New Glasgow site. Travel to and from Halifax will be required on occasion.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Completion of a relevant Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience required
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Psychology, Science, Nursing) preferred
  • Previous coordinating experience in a health care or clinical research setting an asset
  • Experience working with youth and young adults
  • Experience working with people living with serious mental illness
  • Knowledge of diagnostic criteria for mental and behavioral disorders
  • Experience with research ethics board (REB) applications is an asset
  • Previous experience using databases, including Microsoft Access and REDCap an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet
  • Effective communication, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Well-developed organizational, time management and daily planning skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of people in a professional manner
  • Demonstrated research and analytical thinking skills
  • Previous experience in a relevant field preferred
  • Competencies in multiple languages an asset, French preferred

Salary Information

$25.25 - $31.56 hourly

$49,234 - $61,542 annually
