Role Description:

As an R&D Engineer in the Tregaskiss lab, you will work with other team members including the engineering team and product management team to create, develop, prototype, test and debug novel welding torch /and components in accordance with established policies, goals, and objectives.

You are expected to have the ability to make sound technical judgement, thorough understanding of test accuracy and error analysis, follow up and complete critical items. Your tasks also include quickly generating test concepts, carefully executing tests, and drawing conclusions through appropriate data analysis and logical inferences / predictions.

Typical works include:

Develop test procedures and test apparatus per AWS, ASTM, IEC, NEMA, etc. standards.

Analyze product issues to understand the causes of problems and come up with better material options and more innovative solutions.

Process various raw data, filter out noises from the sample, transducer, environment, human operation, and other affecting factors. Summarize the true test results.

Conduct various lab tests: validation, feasibility, compliance, failure analysis, etc., and prepare technical reports.

Maintain R&D effort and R&D documents.

Follow up new technologies in Gas Metal Arc Welding related fields.

Work with internal teams and sister companies on various R&D projects.

Report to the R&D Manager.

Identifies, selects, and recommends materials based on properties, availability / supply, tolerance, manufacture, and cost.

Skills Required:

Bachelors degree in Materials Science & Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; Masters of Science degree desirable.

Sound Scientific and technical knowledge

Analytical skills, solid understanding of data analysis and inference

2+ Years of R&D working experience

Familiar with industrial test concept, familiar with various transducers for electrical, physical, and mechanical properties.

Hands on in lab experience and strong mechanical aptitude are helpful.

Python or Arduino programming experience is beneficial.

Self-motivative, team player, and detail oriented.
