Your Opportunity:

Unit 22 is an acute inpatient Cardiology/Telemetry Unit where a candidate with experience and skill can manage a population of complex unpredictable and unstable patients. The preferred Registered Nurse for this unit is one who has a strong interest in patients requiring cardiac related Nursing care and who can work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide family focused Nursing care. The RN provides care throughout the life span, in all stages of health and complexities of illness.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The candidate has demonstrated ability to perform and document physical assessments. Has a demonstrated ability to administer medications within the acute care setting. The candidate must possess excellent critical thinking skills re clinical judgment and problem solving. Recent experience in an acute care setting at full scope of practice is required. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Candidate must possess effective interpersonal communication skills. This environment is suitable for candidates who have certification in a relevant specialty area, Charge Nurse Experience and past leadership training.

Preferred Qualifications:
