Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, the Recreation Therapist is a member of the collaborative health care team, providing support to patients, families and inter-professional team members through therapeutic intervention to support holistic functioning of patients. The recreation therapist provides assessment, intervention plan development, evidence-informed interventions and evaluation of recreation therapy services. Interventions are provided to groups or individuals in an inpatient, outpatient or community setting, related to the patient’s leisure needs and overall plan of care. The recreation therapist is responsible to oversee the delivery of the overall recreation therapy service for a program or team. Where the role requires a recreation therapist designation, the provider works within the standards and competencies of a recreation therapist.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Recreation specializing (Major) in Therapeutic Recreation
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • Knowledge and application of Therapeutic Recreation assessments and processes.
  • Experience with Responsive Behavior plan development an asset
  • Understanding of the role of a recreation associate
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Long assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately one year
Salary Information

$32.14 - $40.58/hourly
