The A.R. Thomson Group was established in 1967 and is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of fluid containment and control products in North America with branches located across Canada. The Red Deer location specializes in manufacturing metallic hose and expansion joint products. Our Red Deer location acts as the central hub for engineering services and provides technical expertise for all products and support to sales and manufacturing in all locations.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide leadership for the Quality initiative throughout the company. Primary responsibility lies within the Red Deer branch, with a supporting role being given to other branches as required.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Manage the company’s Quality program, complying with all quality requirements. Maintain AQP certification through successful internal and external audits.

2. Create and maintain all QA documents in compliance with ABSA AQP, including but not limited to Product Specifications, Work Instructions, System Procedures, Training Packages, Calibration records, etc.

3. Provide Quality System orientation and training to all new employees, and conduct technician certifications for special processes such as welding. Maintain visibility at the shop-floor level by conducting training follow-up’s and regular QA inspections.

4. Daily management of non-conformances and follow up on all Non-Conformance Reports and Corrective/Preventive Action Reports. Provide information for management use, for both corrective action and preventative actions.

5. Chair all Quality Management Team meetings. Present quarterly reports to the QMT and drive the agenda for successful action-oriented meetings. Provide an annual Management Review report.

6. Act as a member of the Prairie Region Operations team. Provide support and assistance to continuous improvement efforts as part of the key Operations Management team for the region.

7. Provide support for approval processes that the company may apply for, including customer, product, or organizational recognitions. Assemble all required documentation, interact with authorities and be instrumental in obtaining approvals.

8. Provide support for continuous improvement initiatives in the region. Participate in and make recommendations for improvements in product, process and procedures.

9. Manage the quarterly Customer Feedback surveys.

10.Provide engineering support through testing and analysis, process development, machine design and improvement, plant/equipment layouts, costing studies, etc.

11.Manage the PMI program and maintain certification as operator/trainer for the XRF Analyzer.
