Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?

Reporting to the Director, Projects, the Project Manager, Pre-Construction will provide direction for projects and successfully take responsibility for overall project performance including cost, schedule, quality and project status. The Project Manager, Preconstruction will focus on supporting the Director, Projects with Phase 1 – Project Feasibility & Selection (Pre-Qualification) and Phase 2 – Initiating (Qualified Opportunity) planning and deliverables.

In this role, you will also be responsible for managing all other aspects of the project, including the initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and closing phases; coordinating project tasks, budget and stakeholders, while following project management principles and best practices. You will negotiate with subcontractors, liaise with owners, engineers and sub-trades as well as management on technical and financial aspects of the contract.

Your Work Will Include
  • Supporting Phase 1 and 2 project management work including but not limited to:
    • Participating in Cost Reviews & Adjudications;
    • Supporting RFQ/RFP/Pricing Request responses including preparing deliverables such as project schedules, execution plans and DOR’s;
    • Participating in Go-No-Gos and internal kick off meetings representing Projects;
    • Reviewing contracts and associated appendices for completeness and accuracy;
    • Reviewing IC budgets, drawings and other content as required to support Sales Reps in pursuit of opportunities;
    • Support sales with presenting and discussing projects and providing initial technical feedback on client provided content.
  • Maintaining relationships with all external and internal project stakeholders through effective communication practices;
  • Acting as the main interface between the Company and the customer, on all project matters;
  • Identifying project risks, problems and issues as early as possible; ensuring mitigating actions are in place to minimize impact; and
  • Working with project stakeholders to develop a scope of work for projects.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Educational and experience requirements include an engineering technology related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ construction experience in industrial, single or multi-family residential and commercial;
  • Prior experience with modular construction is considered an asset;
  • PMP certification is considered an asset;
  • Proven experience managing small to medium construction projects and the associated stakeholders;
  • Experience working with various levels of government;
  • Contract law knowledge and contract management experience; and
  • Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Scheduling Software- MS Project.
