Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd (VanPile), a multi-discipline construction company, is one of the largest marine general contractors in Canada. We are looking for a motivated individual who is committed to growing their professional career at Vanpile while gaining valuable knowledge and experience through a variety of assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Studies plans and specifications to become familiar with project requirements
- Prepares detailed firm, budget & unit price estimates for labour, materials, equipment, permits, etc.
- Prepares schedules for labour, materials and equipment
- Advises field staff of assumptions on construction procedures and methods used in the preparation of estimates
- Responsible for project costing and tracking
- Completes accounting documentation and establishes and maintains cost codes
- Support subcontract management and processing of invoices and progress claims
- Responsible for change order implication and tracking
- Expedite materials and equipment deliveries from suppliers and subcontractors
- Assist Site Supervisor with manpower requirements
- Responsible for progress claims
- Establishes and maintains an effective quality control program
- Work closely with the rest of the Human Resources team to design processes and policies for the organization
- Work with HR Health & Safety Team to implement programs, policies, and procedures for health and safety across the organization
- 5 years of experience with heavy construction projects
- University degree in Engineering, or diploma in Civil Technology
- Knowledge of cost control, estimating and planning techniques
- Use of computer software: Excel, AutoCAD & MS Project
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
- High personal, professional and ethical standards
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A collaborative, proactive, and results oriented approach
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking/problem solving skills
- Sound prioritization/time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized and a team player
