As an integral member of our Construction team, you will contribute to the growth of new markets and the continued development of innovative construction techniques to maintain our competitive advantage as a major player in the marine construction industry.

We are looking for a motivated individual who is committed to growing their professional career at Vanpile while gaining valuable knowledge and experience through a variety of assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Studies plans and specifications to become familiar with project requirements
• Prepares detailed firm, budget & unit price estimates for labour, materials, equipment, permits, etc.
• Prepares schedules for labour, materials and equipment
• Advises field staff of assumptions on construction procedures and methods used in the preparation of estimates
• Responsible for project costing and tracking
• Completes accounting documentation and establishes and maintains cost codes
• Support subcontract management and processing of invoices and progress claims
• Responsible for change order implication and tracking
• Expedite materials and equipment deliveries from suppliers and subcontractors
• Assist Site Supervisor with manpower requirements
• Responsible for progress claims
• Establishes and maintains an effective quality control program
• Work closely with the rest of the Human Resources team to design processes and policies for the organization
• Work with HR Health & Safety Team to implement programs, policies, and procedures for health and safety across the organization

Qualifications/Requirements:

• 5 years of experience with heavy construction projects
• University degree in Engineering, or diploma in Civil Technology
• Knowledge of cost control, estimating and planning techniques
• Use of computer software: Excel, AutoCAD & MS Project
