  • Location: Calgary, AB | Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day WFH)
  • Shifts: Monday - Friday | 40 hour/week

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage overall payroll operations and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and time for all employees (salaried, fixed-rate, temporary, expatriates).
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of SAP Time and Schedule including queries, configuration and maintenance of schedules.
  • Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local laws, as well as company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and IT, to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other business functions.
  • Conduct audits of payroll data, ensuring accuracy. Facilitate investigation of data discrepancies/errors and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Stay up to date with changes in Canadian payroll legislation and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports, including year-end tax forms, to government authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee the maintenance of payroll software, ensuring it aligns with Canadian payroll regulations and internal policies.
  • Manage sensitive employee information ensuring confidentiality and integrity of data.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and managers regarding payroll-related inquiries, issues, and policies.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during payroll audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop payroll team members, fostering a collaborative, efficient and high-performing work environment.
  • Seek opportunities to improve/enhance payroll and time processes and provide insights and recommendations.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required
  • Professional payroll certification/designation, such as Certified Payroll Manager (CPM), is a must
  • Minimum 5 years of related managerial experience is also required
  • Experience with a large ERP payroll system such as SAP
  • Extensive experience in Canadian payroll management is a must
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and payroll best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to coach and develop a team
  • Robust system experience with the ability to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
