THE MEADOWS - New Position Vacancy: Temporary 2 Years Neighborhood HR and Rehab Manager
LOCATION: Yarmouth, NS FACILITY: 105 Bed - Long Term Care
TYPE: Full Time (1950 hrs) (Average 37.5 hours/pay period)

WHAT YOU’LL DO: Reporting to the CEO/Administrator, the Neighborhood HR and Rehab Manager will be involved in leading, guiding, and participating in day-to-day functions within all neighborhoods (105 Residents). As the facility Champion for the Eden Alternative Neighborhood Model of care, while working directly with resident’s, multidisciplinary care team members, volunteers, family and pets, apply and align actions and goals with The Meadows, Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy of Care. The Eden Alternative philosophy is a vehicle to change the culture of care within nursing homes and the community from an institutional, medical model to a more resident-centered approach. This role will also involve coordinating and leading the existing Rehab services department to include coaching, leading practices, policies, provincial and national standards/regulations. Lastly, the incumbent must be willing to take on various projects and duties based on the needs of the organization (i.e. planning and delivering functions, policy development, coordination, research etc.). As with every role, the underlying responsibility is the care and well-being of each Resident. As such, the tasks required in fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, and the day-to-day routines / schedules for completing these tasks, are secondary only to ensuring the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each Resident are met. This position may require you to wear a mask for the duration of your shift. The Meadows is a member of HANS group of Employee Benefits Plan.

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:

  • Licensed health professional in a related field (RN/OT/PT/RSW/Rec Therapy) with strong HR background having experience in performance management, discipline, document preparation and letter writing
  • 3-5 Years supervisory/management experience (preferably in healthcare and in unionized environment)
  • Microsoft Office software packages and business computer applications
  • Relate well to those who live and work in our home with a compassionate, caring, respectful attitude with a strong customer service and stakeholder mindset
  • Management experience with ability to motivate and lead people and projects in a unionized environment
  • Self-directed, resilient to change, ability to facilitate, resolve conflicts and function with ambiguity
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement and learning
  • Highly organized, self-directed, well developed analytical skills and time management skills with ability to prioritize
  • Willingness to follow the Neighborhood Guide model and Eden philosophy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times, high level of integrity
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written)

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO HAVE: Licensed health professional in a related field (RN/OT/PT/RSW/Rec Therapy), strong background and experience in HR, performance management, discipline, document preparation, letter writing, training and experience in Facilitation, Team Building, WHIMIS, Fire Safety, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and any other related Government Acts and Regulations. Consideration will be given for experience with the above mentioned.
