About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Laboratory Services, the Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) works in collaboration with all members of the Laboratory Services team to conduct medical laboratory tests, experiments and analyses to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.


The MLT ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviors, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.


About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:


  • Graduate of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program
  • Eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia College for Medical Laboratory Technologists
  • Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science
  • Computer proficiency
  • Demonstrated accountability
  • Demonstrated judgment and decision making skills
  • Strong client focus and ability to build solid health care client/practitioner relationships
  • Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills

  • Travel and providing on-site services to other healthcare facilities may be required
  • Availability to work weekends and shifts on a rotating schedule


Preferred (Considered an Asset)

  • Experience in a hospital laboratory setting
  • Experience is Hematology
  • Experience with a Laboratory Information System (Meditech)
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred


Hours

  • Long Assignment, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Beginning as soon as possible for approximately 24 months
  • Dates are approximate and subject to change

Compensation and Incentives

$30.68 - $37.36 hourly


Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.


Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
