Job Summary
Provides leadership in the development and ongoing sustainability of NAV CANADA security management program. The role is accountable for shaping, governing, advising and supporting program and strategy in relation to physical assets, employee and contractor protection, information and crisis management for the company. Formulates push strategies and provides advice on corporate security matters to the company.
Job Description
In this role you will:
  • Lead the development and implementation of corporate and site security programs and strategies, managing day to day activities and initiatives, developing plans and tactics, establishing policies and processes, and ensuring the timely submission of required reports
  • Monitor quality of corporate security activities and services ensuring procedures, and protocols are followed and comply with legislative programs, identifying and investigating issues and recommending strategies and tactics to address concerns
  • Align, develop, implement and mature Security Management Program strategies with best practices outlined by agencies such as RCMP, TC, ICAO and CANSO and participate in working groups to develop security standards for Critical Infrastructure
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and training programs to meet NAV CANADA obligations as outlined by Transport Canada and international bodies
  • Provide expertise and guidance in establishing training programs on physical and technical security matters to employees. Develop and deliver training and awareness programs to cultivate understanding of the diverse elements related to the Security Management Programs and conducting periodic assessments of these programs
  • Manage threat and risk assessments to identify solutions to technical security problems, and to provide future predictive modeling for physical and technical security issues; Implement and facilitate a coordinated response to planned / unplanned risk events
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Security and Emergency Planning team and stakeholders with sensitive investigations.
What you bring:
Education:
  • Diploma and/or university degree in a related discipline plus the achievement of recognized certification / designations related to corporate security practices and or equivalent experience.
Experience:
  • Experience in providing strategic advice to senior management and external stakeholder community
  • Experience in developing communication plans to promote an enhanced understanding of corporate security procedures and related activities.
  • Experience in researching projects to identify preventive, cost-effective solutions and strategies designed to avoid, reduce or eliminate corporate losses and security exposure.
  • Experience in providing functional consultation to key clients at the appropriate level regarding current best practices in existing / emerging physical and technical security issues.
Knowledge:
  • Sound knowledge of corporate security methodologies, at an industry leading practice level
  • In-depth technical knowledge of security standards, programs, techniques and state-of-the art equipment, including CCTV monitoring, recording and disclosure
  • Thorough understanding of privacy laws related to the collection, use, disclosure, retention and storage of personal information gathered from employees and contractors

Working Conditions:
  • This position is based at NAV CANADA’s Ottawa Head office but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
  • Occasional Travel required
