Overview:

Assist with overseeing and work alongside team to install and maintain concrete block throughout the park.

This position pays $27.00 per hour.

How You’ll Make A Difference:

Supervise and direct a team to execute the concrete block pavement maintenance program
Remove and install existing interlock pavement according to Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute specifications for concrete block pavement repair and maintenance operations
Operate heavy construction equipment (loader, backhoe and dump truck) and small power tools related to interlocking brick installation (concrete cutoff saw, plate vibrator)
Construct new interlocking concrete block pavement including excavation and granular base installation
Set up and utilize standard survey equipment (level and stick or laser) to determine existing surface grades and resulting pavement drainage design
Have knowledge of pre-cast modular retaining wall products, their application and installation in the landscape
Assist in soft landscape construction (grade, topsoil, sod and planting) and other duties as required

We’re Looking For:

Minimum 5 years of experience in the installation and maintenance of interlocking concrete block pavements
Diploma/certificate in landscape construction or related field an asset
Certificate of qualification or Canadian Certified Horticultural Technician (CCHT) – Landscape Installation designation is an asset
Previous training and experience in the safe operation of small and heavy construction equipment and power tools is an asset
Able to meet the physical requirements of the job including: bending, lifting, utilizing hand tools and working in various weather conditions
Valid Ontario Driver’s License (class G/G2)
Able to work shifts starting at 6:00am
Reliable source of transportation, outside of public transit
Familiarity with Ontario Health and Safety Act requirements for Industrial Establishments and Construction Projects
Must provide own CSA approved safety footwear
Able to wear personal protective equipment deemed necessary to perform this job safely (may include; gloves, mask and/or face shield, non-slip shoes etc)
