Purpose: Maximize the Project’s cost effectiveness and customer’s satisfaction by providing support in engineering, methods, planning, procurement and project management activities. The Production Planner is a cross functional role that leads the preparation of modifications for projects to establish technical requirements with Engineering, develope procedures with Methods and release orders in Planning.

Key Responsibilites:
  • With support/input from the engineering, procurement & methods departments, obtain the materials and labor requirements necessary to provide status reporting to the project
  • Create within GSI Orders, identify required materials and associated department for action and responsibility for completed the modification be able to track progress of all outstanding MOD’s
  • Review newly created modifications, time tracking of work orders per vechicle per contract, ensure all documentation associated with the modification is current and released within the ERP system.
  • Co-ordinate biweekly departmental meetings to ensure modifications are completed within the projected MPS schedule and report to Planning of any concerns that will inhibit completion date of the project.
  • Responsible for Process Flow from start to finish of the whole Mod procedure.

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge
  • Technical diploma or related degree in Manufacturing desired
  • 3-5 years of detailed production planning or scheduling experience as asset
  • Working experience in production engineering systems and software. Preferred experience with SAP.
  • Basic skills in Primavera Enterprise, P6 and/or Microsoft Project. Excellent skills in MS Excel and data manipulation.
  • Good understanding of change control, risk and opportunity (ROP), report structuring and generation using MS Excel templates, and schedule analysis techniques.

  • May lead cross-functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity; manages own workload.
  • Sets priorities and contibutes to functional departments in meeting their deadlines.

  • Uses judgement to identify and support the resolution of day to day operational problems and issues related to schedule.
  • Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyses possible solutions using technical experience and judgement based on the analysis of information or on practices and precedences.

  • Explains thoughts and ideas in a clear, succinct and compelling manner.
  • Communicates effectively to others and actively listens for others’ ideas.
  • Ability to communicate emerging issues and potential mitigation to the project teams.
