Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager
role is critical to the success of our business. Our clients look to us for the support and guidance required to help them move the business forward. You will act as the dedicated resource to provide hands-on support in an, ever changing, fast-paced excellence-based environment and while managing multiple priorities. Reporting to the Vice President, Collision Centres you will be the strategic partner that works collaboratively with employees and management within their assigned collision centre region within a decentralized line of business model, supporting clients requiring differing levels of support. Using your strong HR/business consulting and communication capabilities, you will assess, anticipate, and resolve HR-related needs by communicating proactively with the Platform team to develop integrated solutions that reflect the overall business objectives.

Your Key Accountabilities

  • Combine in equal measure day to day business activity alongside the implementation of critical business initiatives and the roll out of core HR foundation blocks.
  • Provide first line intervention in respect of Employee Relations issues across the Platform.
  • Provide guidance and coaching on disciplinary, grievance, absence and all associated Employee relations issues.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with related unions and providing clients with council on labour relations related matters and negotiating collective agreements.
  • Coordinate learning and development initiatives, ensuing client groups are compliant with meeting training requirements. Lead the disability management framework and provide advice and recommendations in the development and implementation of disability management protocols and programs to the client groups (actively managing and administering the more complex disability management cases).
  • Supporting the client group by representing the Human Resources function at the vehicle manufacturers (“OEM”) level.


Your Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Vice President, Collision Centres, business leaders and Collision Centres leadership to create and drive human capital strategy for respective areas of the business, in alignment with overall Platform strategy.
  • Effectively administer the performance management process, including: managing low performers and recognizing and developing high performers.
  • Partnering with client managers and vendors to implement activities associated with employee engagement (surveying, facilitating action-plan creation and implementation, follow-up and reporting)
  • Ensuring that programs and processes are in place at the client level to adhere to legislative safety requirements.
  • Leverage the HR capability and assist in developing framework to ensure role requirements are established, competencies developed in those roles, and career progression opportunities exist for employees.
  • Utilize data to identify trends and diagnose organizational effectiveness issues.
  • Encourage employee success by focusing on simplifying processes through innovation, integrity, teamwork, accountability and a friendly work environment.
  • Ability to combine short term tactical and long-term strategic elements.
  • Ensure the Platform dealerships and employees comply and follow all local and company practices in relation to HR transactional activity and procedure.
  • Ensure company adherence to relevant federal and provincial laws regulating employment, but not limited to Employment Standards, Human Rights, and Workers Compensation across all provinces.
  • Regularly review the HR information system to ensure accuracy of data (business units, job codes, career streams) and appropriate management of employment costs within the businesses and ensure correct and appropriate use of HR-online transactions.
  • Involvement in ad-hoc HR development projects – including proposals to enhance current HR services.
  • Ensure appropriate, regular, and frequent corporate and company communication and engagement with the Platform dealerships.


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Minimum of 5 years related experience, 2 years in a strategic partnership role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a business discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Certified HR designation is preferred.
  • Understanding of various provincial legislation is an asset.
  • Experience in a corporate and/or national retailer setting preferred.
