ABOUT THE ROLE
At Oxford University Press Canada, we would be nothing without our amazing sales team. We’re seeking a highly organized and dynamic individual to assume the position of Sales and Editorial Representativein the Higher Education Division. This position will cover the Ottawa Territory.
The successful candidate will be responsible for strategically focusing time and effort on key opportunities to grow the assigned territory with a focus on new business development. You should feel comfortable with cold-calling and prospecting and thrive in independent, fast-moving work environments. You should be able to prioritize effectively to meet and surpass set sales targets.
Responsibilities include:
- Growing existing customer base by researching new opportunities and following up on leads.
- Daily visits to university and college campuses, meeting with professors to discuss their specific course needs and match those to OUP products.
- Strategic planning to develop and secure new business opportunities.
- Developing strong relationships with faculty members, department staff, and bookstore personnel.
- Collaboratively working with colleagues and management in team settings.
- Conducting virtual and in-person sales calls to demonstrate OUP’s learning technologies, as well as our digital and print resources.
- Successfully planning daily, weekly, and monthly itineraries to prioritize time effectively.
- Sourcing possible author candidates, and sending market information to the acquisitions group to increase product development.
- Traveling 25-30 percent of the time to assigned accounts and conferences.
- Focusing on the growth of our digital products within the assigned territory.
ABOUT YOU
- 1-2 years experience in a professional work environment
- A University degree or College diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills are essential
- An undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficiency with Salesforce.com and Microsoft Office products
- Previous sales and/ or publishing experience will be considered an asset.
Location:This position will cover the Ottawa territory. The successful candidate must live in the Ottawa area or be willing to move there upon being hired.
