Job Summary:

The Fund Development Associate will be responsible for supporting multiple aspects of CMHA Middlesex’s direct mail, donor engagement, community events and signature special events portfolio. The incumbent will work collaboratively with departments and committees across CMHA Middlesex, as well as third-party fundraisers, to leverage and grow partnership opportunities that will maximize revenues and achieve fundraising targets. The duties may require travel within London-Middlesex and Elgin areas as well as working outside of traditional work hours.

This is a full-time permanent position which includes enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) and extended healthcare benefits.

Job Description and Primary Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities

Administrative
  • Update the donor mailing list and database, ensuring the accuracy of records and maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of donor information
  • Track and process donations by maintaining and updating the donor database
  • Support the activities of fund development committees and third-party event organizers by gathering agenda items, coordinating meeting space, taking Minutes, preparing appropriate financial reports, and report on progress towards event timelines
  • Develop the peer to peer platform to ensure concise fundraising pages for the purpose of selling tickets, sponsorship and event pledges. Create and produce reports to analyze data through this platform
  • Coordinate grant documents, grant reporting and stewardship reports to ensure target dates are completed within deadlines
Fund Development Activities
  • Provide support for fundraising events, direct mail campaigns, and other fundraising initiatives
  • Attend and support event activities, as required
  • Coordinate and encourage participation in fund-raising activities with employees
  • In collaboration with the Senior Fund Development Associate, engage volunteers for special fund development projects
Communication
  • Develop social media posts for various platforms on a regular basis and as requested, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
  • Assist with the content and creation of special donor communications including newsletters
  • Engage with donors appropriately with a sense of gratitude that reflects the organization’s values and appreciation
  • Promote the CMHA Middlesex “brand” and coordinate fund-raising communications with the Senior Fund Development Associate; convey the values and mission of the organization to funders
Job Specifications:

Required Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in fundraising, marketing or communications or equivalent of education and experience (CFRE preferred)
  • Minimum three years of related work experience within a fund development team, executing events and/or in a related position
  • Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Blackbaud NXT suite of software applications for data, gift processing, reports, peer-to-peer and payment services
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an overall fund development and communication strategy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Access to a vehicle and current driver’s license
  • Ability to support fund-raising activities after regular work hours, as needed
  • Clear, current Police Information Check (PIC)
  • Ability to attend work regularly with a flexible schedule

Preferred Additional Qualifications And Experience
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure at times, with tight deadlines
  • Ability to accommodate unexpected changes in work schedule
  • Knowledge of Adobe In-Design, Wordpress, and Publisher
  • Experience working with the public, including public speaking / presentations
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and understanding of the strength, struggle, and resilience of individuals experiencing mental illness, addiction, and/or homelessness within the community
  • Bilingual in both official languages is an asset
Hours of Work:
  • 35 hours per week; predominantly Monday-Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, with flexibility to suit program needs
  • Will be required to work evenings and weekends during campaigns and special events
  • Overtime will be banked as per CMHA Middlesex policy
