Position: Financial Analyst (ref: 1097337)
Location: Barrie (currently remote, long term will be office based 2-3 days a week)
Salary: $70-75,000 + 10% bonus + 5% RSP

My client is a large, Canadian retail/ecommerce operation and part of a Canadian public company with nationally based operations and its local offices based in Barrie (currently remote, long term will be office based 2-3 days a week)
Your new role
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting accounting and reporting functions including but not limited to payroll, capital, account reconciliations, consolidated financial statement analysis, project support and testing. The Financial Analyst will own and maintain payroll reporting and reconciliation including payroll taxes, payroll analysis, benefit and provincial government remittances. The Financial Analyst will own and maintain the financial reporting of their foreign subsidiary which includes priming annual external audit. The Financial Analyst owns and maintains the Fixed Asset Management module within PeopleSoft, various capex reports and schedules including analysis and investigation of transactions and balances. The role will be a key member of the monthly financial statement close process responsible for timely and accurate completion of journal entries, submission of financial results, supporting schedules and variance analysis. The Financial Analyst will control the completion of all scheduled balance sheet account reconciliations on a timely basis. This includes assessing balances for reasonableness and leading investigations and resolution of issues identified through the reconciliation process. The role will support various projects by providing accounting requirements, participating in process and system design and owning system testing for Finance. The Financial Analyst will recommend and implement process improvement initiatives, identifying areas of potential efficiency gains as well as perform adhoc analysis and investigations as required to support Finance reporting and decision making.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will ideally either be working towards or hold a completed CPA designation with 1-2+ years of experience in an accounting/analysis role in a mid to large sized operation. You will possess strong Excel skills. You will possess strong communication skills (verbal and written) with experience presenting to senior management. Strong accounting acumen, analytical skills and problem-solving skills with proven ability and tenacity to resolve issues independently.
