Reporting To

Manager, Financial Reporting

Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Financial Reporting Analyst will assist primarily with internal financial reporting and analysis, as well as assist in technical and complex accounting transactions and processes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinate the monthly consolidation and reconciliations, including inter-company processing
  • Complete complex accounting transactions during the month-end close process as required including recording of transactions as they relate to the preparation of the financial statements
  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and cost center details, providing quantitative and qualitative analysis of performance vs a variety of benchmarks (budget, forecast, and prior periods) to assist senior management in decision making
  • Assist where needed with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly consolidated financial statements and associated working papers in compliance with IFRS
  • Assist where needed with the preparation of financial statement notes and MD&A
  • Performs technical research and provides advice on accounting treatment and/or common practice for recording complex items including implementation of new accounting standards
  • Prepares and maintains associated documentation and transaction-level accounting records for such complex items
  • Provide documentation and explanations as required by external auditors in relation to the audit of financial statements of the company
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed their CPA designation and have CPA firm experience
  • Minimum 4 years combined experience in accounting and finance
  • Experience in preparing or auditing financial statements and handling dual-currency transactions and consolidations an asset
  • Working knowledge of IFRS
  • Appetite to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and effective time management skills
  • Self-motivator with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with high credibility at all levels of the organization
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, a strong commitment to meeting strict deadlines, and solid decision-making skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
