We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Field Operations Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of OSP and ISP infrastructure, in a hybrid municipal network serving both fiber and wireless customers.

The successful applicant must reside or be willing to relocate to within 30 minutes drive time of Pictou County, Nova Scotia.This role requires regular day shift hours Monday to Friday and will require some overtime, on-call, and weekend work.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Install, configure, and maintain FTTH and fixed wireless network equipment, including routers, switches, access points, and customer premises equipment (CPE).
  • Conduct site surveys and assess network requirements for new installations and upgrades.
  • Perform network testing, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network connectivity and service availability.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of network expansion projects, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively address any potential bottlenecks or network congestion.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to customers, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of their network-related issues.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Comply with applicable regulations, industry standards, and company policies related to network operations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all outside plant installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Generate reports detailing the status of outside plant infrastructure, including the identification of recurring issues or areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-organizational teams to provide input on OSP design and optimization initiatives.

Safety and Compliance:

  • At all times, responsible for the ensuring the health & safety of themselves and customers in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Follow all safety policies and initiatives and bring forth any recommendations.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in network operations, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
  • Strong knowledge of FTTH and fixed wireless network infrastructure, including equipment, protocols, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with network testing and troubleshooting tools.
  • Ability to interpret and understand network design drawings and documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve network issues effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various work sites as needed.
