About Our Operation

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. Meliadine is located just northwest of Rankin Inlet, a small coastal town on the shores of Hudson Bay. Commercial production began at Meliadine in mid-May 2019 and the mine officially opened at the end of June. This mine is our largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources and we expect to operate it for at least 14 years. The site features a power plant and processing facilities, as well as a complete camp complex.

Your Next Challenge

Reporting to the Exploration Geology Coordinator, the Exploration Technician is part of the Geology department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. The Exploration Technician plays an important role supervising the operations at the coreshack, assisting the geologists in drill hole planning and follow-up, drill supervision and inspection, field preparation and investigation, downhole surveys and QAQC. She/He will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

• Assist with the supervision the day-to-day operations at the coreshack;
• Assist with the supervision of the Coreshack Helpers;
• Participate to sampling/splitting tasks;
• Verify that the QA/QC is properly respected in the sampling process;
• Perform, train, supervise, import downhole surveys into DDH logger’s database;
• Ensure a quality field preparation before drilling operations;
• Assist geologists in drill supervision and inspection;
• Create, verifies and implements procedures for geology department;
• Assist geologists in supervising the exploration drilling programs;
• Follow-up and supervise the diamond drill holes made by contractors;
• Participate in training of the Mine Exploration team;
• Examine the drilling environments to ensure that it’s safe;
• Prepare cross-shift notes and ensures good communication with cross-shifts;
• Ensure the coreshack is neat/organized and clean at all time.
  

What You Need To Succeed

• College Diploma in Geology or Mining or equivalent in experience;
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in exploration;
• Physical ability to manipulate charges of about 50 pounds regularly;
• Mining modules or Common core is considered an asset;
• Experience working in a multicultural environment;
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
• Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
• Knowledge of softwares DHLogger/Fusion are considered an asset;
• Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.
  

Your Work Schedule

• Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
