SUMMARY



The Event Services Manager is responsible for working directly with clients to design impactful, authentic experiences for our guests. This role is responsible for developing a highly skilled and productive team of Event Service Coordinators that meet and exceed revenue targets, while promptly and professionally addressing the needs of prospective and existing client

s.

This is accomplished by successfully achieving the defined objects and financial targets associated with the event though supporting and strategizing with the client. This position is critical to the success of Westerner Park and the events it hosts and applies a project management approach when cascading information to business units. The Event Services Manager provides service excellence and leadership as part of a multi-faceted t

eam.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBI

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Event Services Manager is responsible for, but not limited to, the fo

llowing:

  • Functions

    Develop, implement and monitor strategies and objectives for the business unit. Understanding full lifecycle
  • of an event.
    Lead event organizers through the planning process; anticipating needs, and developing exceptional project management expertise and e
  • vent strategy
    Provide detailed guidance and leadership to the Event Services Team and other business units on event r
  • elated matters
    Work in concert with other business units to ensure congruence with Event Service operations and objectives and review current opportunities, challenges and discuss event developm
  • ent initiatives
    Contribute to overall revenue goals to include food & beverage, catering, meeting room rental, and
  • box office.
    Research and identify new business opportunities across a broad spectrum of agriculture, trade, sports and entertainment, conferences and meetings for Westerner Park including reaching out to event planners and staying abreast of
  • local events.
    Assess full reports on events organized which include obstacles and opportunitie
  • s encountered.
    Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and client retention levels. Resolve customer concerns and complaints in a courteous, profe
  • ssional manner.
    Utilization of EventPro to ensure that records of all prospects/business development contacts, calls and meeti
  • ngs are recorded
    Develop and implement marketing strategies in conjunction with the Marketing & Communi
  • cations team.
    Develop valuable business relationships that result in additional sales and new customers. Research each customer’s business, event needs, identify who to talk to and how to get
  • sales closed.
    Conduct all necessary internal and external meetings in order to foster relationships and synchronize division of responsibilities for a great cl
  • ient experience
    Develop solutions to any risk and cost concerns as it relates to the event. Resolve any challen
  • ges or problems.
    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitors and opportunities in
  • the marketplace.
    Participate in industry related organizations and in the local community to drive
  • and book business
    Monitor customer preferences to determine focu

    Client Event Management

    Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with clients and customers i
  • n the course of their event planning.
    As appropriate, meet the customer at the event, ensure proper event set-up and customer satisfaction. Take initiative to solve any problems by liai
  • son with other business unit managers.
    Oversee the coordination of all events that pertain to Event Services including but not limited to sports and entertainment, tradeshows and conferences, agric
  • ultural events, weddings, and banquets.

    Liaise with conference delegates and exhibitors from the time that they commit to attending, th
  • roughout the lead up and during the event.

    Co-ordinate delivery of Westerner Park
  • materials to events, internal and external.

  • LIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

    High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
    Post-Secondary
  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing or a related field is an asset
    Minimum of 5 years’ sales experience, including 3 years of
  • field sales management experience in a b
  • usiness-to-business environment.
    Minimum of 2 years’ management experience
    Demonstrable experience of developing sales strategy and product develop
  • ment plans linking to the business plan with knowledge of national markets.
    Leadership ability and team building skill
  • s to effectively supervise professional and non-professional
  • staff required.
    Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
