The Opportunity:

The Director, Marketing position will oversee the strategic development, direction and implementation of all marketing activities (offline and online) for the Operations group including all digital activities (website and agencies) as well as the customer journey. This position is responsible for increasing/leveraging market penetration with specific emphasis on creating a higher level of customer awareness, as a key member of the senior management team for the Minto Properties Operations Group.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Oversees the development of overall marketing strategy including market segmentation, the definition of customer needs by segment, market research, product plans, advertising and promotional plans/materials, as well as the consumer websites;
  • Responsible for managing and driving the appropriate content for websites and distribution channels (Minto.com, Channel Management, NES, Mobile etc.);
  • Ensures all strategies/ practices are complaint (CASL and Data Protection);
  • Creative / Messaging;
  • Marketing - Positioning, Advertising, PR, Promo, Staging;
  • Develops and implements the integrated marketing plans and programs for the Minto Properties Operations Group, encompassing successful brand building marketing initiatives to ensure the achievement of the division’s growth and revenue objectives;
  • Focus on the development and delivery of initiatives geared to improving resident engagement – events, programming etc.;
  • Develops and implements annual marketing plans (including advertising plans), to ensure the achievement of business objectives for the group. This includes the development and management of marketing budgets throughout the year, recommending changes in plans/budgets where appropriate, to ensure achievements of annual business objectives;
  • Identifies and exploits cross-promotional opportunities to enhance our brand identification and in a cost effective and creative manner, specifically manages the co-ordination of all marketing advertising, promotional plans, staging for the various properties/divisions;
  • Develops an annual marketing planning process that drives the annual marketing plans for each major property with the process leveraging specific insights into market trends, customer needs, competitive activity, as well as the performance of Minto’s business relative to objectives. A key element will include the management of a detailed business assessment which will integrate the findings of market trends, customer insight as well as in depth competitive reviews;
  • Responsible for continued improvement to drive the best outcome in Metrics – CSAT, Referrals, Reviews, Social Media;
  • Responsible for an increase in overall marketing effectiveness and reduction in the cost of sales;
  • Provides input and develops relevant aspects of the marketing and advertising budget;
  • Develops and monitor presence on major, applicable social media outlets; includes media statements, social media statements, resident letters, telephone scripts, webpage copy, creative assets; liaise with senior leadership on an appropriate response;
  • Craft press releases/statements on new acquisitions (when relevant);
  • Recruits, trains and develops marketing talent within the Minto Properties Operations Group while strengthening and maintaining a can-do, goal oriented, entrepreneurial environment that stresses employee accountability and teamwork, through process, discipline, coaching and feedback;
  • Participates as a key member of the senior leadership team for the Minto Properties Operations Group on issues of a broader divisional nature including overall business strategy and direction;
  • Participates as a key member of the joint Minto marketing leads in discussions and decisions on joint Minto initiatives as required;
  • Sets high standards, establishes accountabilities and measures performance consistent with Minto’s Values;
  • Ensures all parties adhere to health and safety standards and promote a healthy and safe work environment;
  • Other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested by management.

Who we’re looking for:

Education:University Degree (B. Commerce or related discipline recommended) or a College Diploma (Marketing, journalism, business or related).

Experience:A minimum of ten (10+) years of relevant work experience including leading a team. Previous experience in the following industries are seen as an asset:

  • Hospitality – Brand
  • Real Estate – Home Sales / Design
  • Consumer products – Product Manager
