What can you expect?
The Content Creator is in a highly visible role, showcasing the highlights of the resort by animating and broadcasting the Banff Sunshine Village experience. The Content Creator takes the lead on creating and capturing primarily photo content, developing content plans, and organizing content for distribution by the Media & Communications team on the resort’s traditional and social media channels. This position reports to the Director, Brand & Communications, under the guidance of the Events Supervisor, and works alongside all personnel in Sales and Marketing.

Content Creation: overseeing and leading tasks and specific projects, as directed, by capturing awe inspiring photos and videos showcasing the FUN and magic of Banff Sunshine Village to all demographics. Highlighting key services and amenities provided at the resort, including the Sunshine Mountain Lodge, ski school, restaurants, grooming, rentals, etc.
Working alongside the Events Supervisor to make photo and video content of all events (rail jams, Spring Concert Series, etc.) and enhancing the www.skibanff.com events calendar with video and photo content. Working alongside Media and Communications to create content for upcoming sales and promotional campaign (e.g., flash sales, hotel bookings, season passes and pass products) Assisting with media visits to capture original content.

Content Planning:
  • Writing and developing a content creation business plan to maximize exposure for Banff Sunshine Village and its associated partners and sponsors.
  • Planning weekly/monthly shoots for new and current web series.
  • Working with the Social Coordinator to work with and check in on all resort departments, as well as working alongside external contractors.
  • Performing site inspections for video teasers, events, photo shoots, and productions.
Content Management and Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Executing content plans, filming, and editing content with success.
  • Editing and organizing daily photos and videos into a content library, ensuring proper tags are used.
  • Creating a weekly “best of” edit for photos, to share with various partners and media.
  • Keep up to date on all Sunshine Village and industry news
  • Timely and accurate incident reporting to appropriate departments and personnel.
  • Ensuring company policies, including health and safety measures, are consistently adhered to.
And you have:
  • Experienced outdoor photographer with excellent editing skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or advertising is preferred – equivalent work experience in photo/video creation and editing within social media focused environments will be considered.
  • Practical experience working with social networks and platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, blogs, YouTube, and Vimeo.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) and video editing software such as Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro is a must, as well as basic knowledge of HTML/CSS. Experience with all Microsoft Office Suite of programs is preferred.
  • Must be an expert level skier or snowboarder and be able to carry camera gear and film content in challenging terrain. Skiing or snowboarding for work requires completion of a competency test, skiing and riding professionally, and is restricted to designated runs.
  • Must always maintain professional conduct when in uniform, and when acting as a company representative.
  • Outgoing, positive, social, and friendly attitude.
  • Must possess the ability to work individually and be a good self-starter. Coachability and willingness to take direction are essential aspects of this role.
  • Good time management skills, able to meet multiple deadlines, calm under pressure, and patient.
  • Prepared to work flexible schedules (evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and training.
  • Must be neat, punctual and dependable
