The Ministry of Finance is responsible for the Government of Saskatchewan’s financial system, MIDAS. MIDAS is an Oracle E-Business Suite application which utilizes many of the key financial modules, such as GL, AP, Purchasing, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash Management and Public Sector Budgeting. The Financial Systems Branch, within the Provincial Comptroller’s Office of the Ministry of Finance, provides configuration and support services to all users of the MIDAS application.

The Financial Systems Branch, is seeking a client service-focused individual to join its MIDAS Financial Team as a Configuration Analyst within the Budgeting, Forecasting and Reporting area. This position is responsible for providing a combination of business analysis, system configuration, procedure/process development, training, and Tier II help-desk support in relation to budgeting and forecasting, including:

  • Analyzing and evaluating requirements, recommending solutions, creating and modifying reports and working closely with ITD developers in designing, developing and testing system changes to ensure continued accurate financial processing/reporting; and,
  • Consulting and communicating with business experts in various modules of Oracle Financials (GL, AP, AR, Purchasing, Fixed Assets, and Cash Management modules) to generate required financial reports.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes; experience working with accounting or financial applications; and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, audit standards and financial controls. You will also have experience with application design, setup, testing concepts, theories and principles; database design concepts, theories and principles; and report development knowledge using reporting tools or applications. Exceptional analytical, problem solving, data entry, organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills are required.

Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be obtained through a post-secondary education in Business Administration and/or Computer Science. Similar combinations of experience and education will also be considered.
