Out of Scope

Temporary: 2 Years

Remote or Hybrid work options may be available at the discretion of the manager. The successful candidate will be expected to meet the working from home requirements and sign a remote work agreement.

General Accountability

The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the planning, development and implementation of corporate communication strategies and tactics for the applicable communications function (internal) for SGI and its regional operations. You will coordinate and provide writing services for applicable audiences, assist with issues management and crisis communications and represent the Enterprise Change Management department from a communications perspective on a number of corporate committees that develop corporate policies and operational initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

Communications – Transformation
  • Participates in the planning, development and implementation of communication strategies and tactics for business transformation initiatives.
  • Participates in strategic discussions with management on communication strategies for corporate initiatives that may impact the bargaining unit.
  • Coordinates and provides corporate writing services for applicable audiences, ensuring all writing meets corporate and industry standards.
  • Conducts interviews and researches concepts that are related to strategic, confidential or corporately sensitive topics.
  • Reviews and edits written material that is strategic in nature, confidential and/or corporately sensitive.
  • Acts as the corporate spokesperson in the corporate spokesperson’s absence (in applicable positions only).
  • Assists the Communications Managers and Change Management Managers (in the applicable function), Vice President of Enterprise Change Management, and senior management with issues management and crisis communications tactics.

Project Management
  • Represents the Enterprise Change Management department on corporate committees that develop policies and operational initiatives at the management and executive level, exercising discretion pertaining to confidential information discussed within those committees.
  • Liaises with management, contacts in government departments and agencies, and/or other stakeholder groups, ensuring communication is coordinated with consistent and timely messages.
  • Develops, implements, manages and evaluates the corporation’s Social Media Program, ensuring social media messaging is consistent with media key messages (in applicable positions).
  • Persuades and negotiates priorities on project teams to ensure consistent messaging.

Leadership
  • Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.
  • Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports development in others.
  • Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.
  • Is actively committed to leadership development across the company, supporting team and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities.

Corporate Management
  • Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.
  • Manages risk in area of authority.
  • Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.

Education And Experience
  • A four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary educational institution in a relevant field of study such as Communications, Journalism or English.
  • Three years of experience in communications.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of corporate communications policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of developing media/public relations and/or social media strategies (in applicable positions only).
  • Knowledge of SGI’s vision, values and strategic imperatives and corporate direction.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry.
  • Knowledge of media in Saskatchewan (in applicable position).
  • Skill in planning, organizing and project management.
  • Ability to provide communications planning and support for confidential corporate strategies and initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate to influence and persuade, adapting to specific audiences (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to communicate with clarity and simplicity, boiling down complex concepts into simple language that is easy to understand (both written and verbal).

Pay Range:$68,676.00 - $91,572.00
