Viterra is seeking an Agricultural Commodity Trader. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic team and assist with the entire commodity pipeline from producer to end-user by: building relationships, understanding the supply/demand, quality, pricing and positioning of the commodity and overseeing the logistics and transportation from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive mentorship from professionals within the merchandising department.
  • Gain exposure to various commodities and global commodity markets.
  • Expand knowledge and application of foreign exchange risk, hedging, and asset management.
  • Learn and manage the pipeline of commodities from producer to end-user, including supply chain logistics, contract execution, and quality control.
  • Coordinate all aspects of contract management to ensure that contract terms are adhered to.
  • Build, develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Thrives in a challenging, fast-paced and changing, team environment; able to multi-task.
  • Demonstrates ability to assess risk and exercise judgment in decision making.
  • Detail-orientated with strong organizational skills.
  • Achievement and goal focused – someone who enjoys the thrill of reaching goals and takes pride and ownership of their work activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Education and Qualifications:
  • University degree in Agriculture, Commerce or Business Administration (or equivalent post-secondary education).
  • Knowledgeable in MS office and experience navigating in different computer software programs.
  • Basic understanding of the Canadian Grain Industry would be considered an asset.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
