About the Position

This role covers a broad set of responsibilities related to receiving, stocking, and inventory management. Back-of-House (BOH) Team Members are responsible for overseeing all areas and operations in regards to the back-of-house. You are expected to deliver on the main priorities as set out by this role, to continually revise and adapt BOH processes as needed, and to communicate any barriers or support needed to your supervisor. You are the person with the organization and problem solving skills to turn any situation into a positive one. You are detail-oriented, efficient and want to contribute to improving processes in a growing organization. You are passionate about what you do and want to apply your skills to a company that is dedicated not just to a transparent supply chain, but to working on changing the way people shop and supporting local food systems. You have experience in receiving, stocking, inventory and/or warehouse management.

This position is a part-time hourly position and requires those hours spent working in-store in our back-of-house and loading bay, while working closely with our food prep and grocery teams. Working closely with our inventory team, you will play a key role in shaping the growth path of an innovative local food business and you will have a unique opportunity to get your hands dirty and gain a wealth of experience in the zero waste food industry, inventory management, and develop processes to better facilitate this goal. Working at Nada is an opportunity to be immersed in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment and to learn from other social entrepreneurs, industry mentors and peers.

Specific responsibilities

  • Being our receiving expert; making sure that all incoming products are received, stocked, and stored accurately and efficiently.
  • Having keen attention to detail for monitoring deliveries, matching invoices, and making sure any discrepancies are spotted. You have eyes like a hawk when it comes to finding mistakes & love to brighten up our delivery drivers’ days!
  • Liaising with delivery drivers to make sure that products are delivered in perfect condition while tracking any credits for those that are not. We’re working hard to make sure food doesn’t end up in the landfill - you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to this conversation & come up with creative solutions to ensure that surplus food ends up in the hands of those who need it most!
  • Monitoring the receiving load, receiving, moving, unpacking, and filling product bins to ensure that all shipments are put on the floor and/or stored properly before the end of the day.
  • Quality control; making sure that our products are full, rotated, front-faced, and in perfect condition so that our customers can be sure to leave happy with the best package-free goods we could find!
  • Responsible for ensuring that our loading bay and back-of-house fulfillment and storage areas are kept in tip-top shape.
  • Various administrative and physical tasks as required, including but not limited to filing, printing, cleaning, breaking down boxes, managing compost, garbage, and recycling pick-ups, stock counts, etc.

Desired Qualifications & Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to stay organized and work independently, often alone, solving problems and making improvements on a daily basis. Those who are resourceful and take initiative excel at Nada!
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work quickly and efficiently on your feet for long periods of time, up to eight hours/day
  • Outstanding organizational skills to use space efficiently, keeping paperwork and digital correspondence orderly, paying close attention to incoming products and invoices
  • Adaptability is needed as our product mix changes, particularly with seasonality, and so modifying space allocation or procedures may be necessary

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documenting processes, reporting errors, challenges or issues to relevant departments with clarity and ability to ask for help and delegate.
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge about environmental sustainability issues and a more transparent supply chain, passionate and curious about zero waste concepts, business models and lifestyles
