As a Public Health Advisor, you will offer technical assistance and guidance to improve public health activities and services provided by CRC. Public health advisor is responsible for providing leadership, technical advice, and guidance on health-related issues to CRC Health and Safety team as well as to incident management team.

As a Public Health Advisor , you will:

  • Gather health intelligence both globally and in Canada and undertake analysis to inform CRC programs and its health and safety teams in preparing policy and health programs.
  • Work across audiences to interpret available health data and contribute towards preparing health projections as well as scientific solutions to the emerging health problems.
  • Provide specialized input in communicable disease control, including surveillance activities and immunization issues, and provide scientific guidance to the investigation and control of communicable disease outbreaks when CRC input is required.
  • Provide epidemiologic, scientific, and public health expertise to the department and assist with program evaluations.
  • Supervise and mentor master’s students, Public Health supporting staff and other trainees as required.
  • Represent CRC, promoting and profiling the outcome of CRC supported programs through presentations at meetings, conferences, and other national and international platforms.
  • Respond to public health data inquiries and create reports for a variety of audiences.
  • Support in assessing and documenting health programs supported by HiE, identifying key data, data analysis and communicating impact.

What we are looking for :

  • Master’s degree in public health or epidemiology, bachelor’s degree in health-related field (medical profiles e.g nursing are preferred)
  • At least 5 years of work experience in public health, preferably in communicable disease / vaccine preventable disease control, or related areas.
  • Expert knowledge of communicable diseases, immunization and epidemiologic principles and methods
  • Proven diplomacy and interpersonal skills with a track record in developing partnerships and working within multi-disciplinary teams and facilitating meetings
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, organizational skills, and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient use of technology including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation applications
  • Being licensed to practice medicine in Ontario or eligible for licensure in Ontario is an asset.

Full vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory for this position and operation (the CRC will however adhere to its duty to accommodate those who are unable to be fully vaccinated for a reason related to a human right protected ground)
