The Opportunity*

The School of Construction is hiring an Adjunct Instructor for the Pre-employment Refrigeration program. This role will be instructing apprenticeship students in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning trade. This will include instructing controls, electrical, heating, refrigeration theory and conducting shop classes.

The Role

  • Instruct Refrigeration and Air Conditioning training courses to a diverse learner community
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners.
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement.
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners.
  • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors.
  • Instruct in person and online due to health and safety guidelines.
  • Follow all safety guidelines.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
  • Experience in a faculty role at a post-secondary educational institute is an asset.
  • Ability to effectively coach and support diverse students, ensuring that teaching environments are optimal for student success.
  • Self-directed with excellent time management skills and ability to manage priorities/deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Possess a positive, collaborative and team-oriented attitude.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience using learning management systems such as Bright space (Desire2Learn) is an asset due to the increased need for online teaching.
  • Commitment to ethical behavior.
  • Follow all safety guidelines.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
