COMPENSATION: $29.17 - $33.49 per hour (Grid 12 as per collective agreement)
HOURS of WORK: 37.5 hours per week
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, Day time hours, flex schedule with occasional evening and weekend work

ABOUT FOUNDRY KAMLOOPS
Foundry is a province-wide network dedicated to providing integrated mental health care, substance use services, physical and sexual health care, peer support, and social services to young people aged 12–24 and their caregivers. Foundry Kamloops is preparing to open its doors to the communities in Kamloops and the surrounding areas soon to offer services while embodying Fondry’s overarching purpose of supporting young people in living a good life, inspired by diverse perspectives and experiences within our community.

POSITION OVERVIEW
As the Foundry Community Engagement Coordinator, you will have the exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping develop and establish Foundry Kamloops, working alongside the Foundry Kamloops Manager. Once Foundry Kamloops is launched you will continue to be instrumental in coordinating and facilitating various programs and initiatives, working closely with volunteers, youth, caregivers, and community partners. You will help create a safe and supportive environment where young people can access the services they need. Key Responsibilities include:

Program Development Support:
  • Lead administrative and research initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support fundraising and marketing activities.
  • Contribute to the development of program policies and procedures.
  • Attend regional, provincial, or larger Foundry network meetings to represent Foundry Kamloops and contribute to the continuous improvement of Foundry Kamloops programs.
Program Coordination and Group Facilitation:
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of Foundry Kamloops.
  • Plan and implement projects aligned with program mandates.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Support group attendees in accessing supports within Foundry Kamloops and the community.
  • Maintain a safe and welcoming space for all participants.
Volunteer Coordination:
  • Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers.
  • Schedule and oversee volunteers, providing feedback and mentorship.
  • Ensure all volunteers have completed the required checks.
Community Coordination:
  • Attend public and community events to promote Foundry services.
  • Manage social media content and presence.
  • Liaise with other professionals and agencies in the community.
  • Support grant writing and fundraising efforts.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Person-centered, flexible approach to work
  • Ability to build rapport and work with diverse populations including youth and young adults facing multiple systemic barriers.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to network and maintain connections within larger and directly surrounding communities
  • Strong knowledge of government and community-based youth, mental health, and physical health programs and related community support resources.
  • Collaboration skills to work effectively with other program staff, relevant service providers, and community members.
  • Knowledge of social support strategies and integrated case management.
  • Ability to work independently and as a productive member of a collaborative team.
  • Technological aptitude to self-teach and effectively use software and hardware for program administration, group facilitation, social media activities, etc.
  • Strong crisis management skills and ability to uphold health and safety standards while responding to emergencies.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
  • Diploma in a relevant inter-disciplinary field including Social Sciences, Arts, Communications, or other.
  • 2+ years of experience in a relevant sector i.e.: Social Services, Health, Community Engagement, etc.
  • 1+ year of experience in volunteer coordination.
  • Or a combination of relevant education and experience.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license
  • Access to a reliable vehicle with Business Use insurance. (reimbursement available for premium increase)
  • Safe Driving Record
  • Flexible availability to work occasional evenings or weekends
  • Covid-19 vaccination (minimum 2 doses).
  • Physical requirements of the job include setting up and taking down booths at events, organizing program spaces, and carrying boxes up to 40 lbs. in weight.
  • Consent to Criminal Record Check. (Reimbursement with a receipt upon hire)
  • This position requires Union membership.
  • Following training is required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certification is an asset: Emergency First Aid with CPR, Mandt (2 days), SafeTalk, Safe Food Handling, Naloxone, Anti-Bullying and Harassment, Privacy and Information Sharing
