Are you ready to be the face of Amazon Transportation? As a Fleet Asset Specialist, you will be a vital member of Amazon Transportation Services. The Fleet Asset Specialist will manage the maintenance activities and maximize value of Amazon’s growing transportation fleet.

Responsibilities will include maintenance planning, decision making about when repairs and maintenance activities are required, managing third party onsite and offsite repair execution, and maximizing equipment uptime. An ideal candidate brings a background in managing maintenance cost and equipment ownership, with experience working with vendors and operation management teams, driving improvement, holding vendors accountable for quality and cost, and achieving organizational targets. This job will require exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently.

Fleet Asset Specialists will have responsibility for multiple adjacent locations that make up a node. Asset Specialists in their designated node will physically assess the equipment onsite and balance the unscheduled repairs against the life-cycle health of the asset. Specialists will control the demand of all unscheduled maintenance by knowing the acceptable levels of equipment health. The ability to effectively communicate with vendors and local transportation teams will be a critical aspect of daily operations as there will be multiple vendors operating within the node. Specialists will be sensitive to the facility and ultimately our customer. Specialists will have oversight from both a Transportation Operations Manager and the Fleet team. Other responsibilities associated with this role will include:
  • Execute the daily standard work necessary to manage equipment within a node, including inspecting equipment, creating repair requests, monitoring repair execution, ensuring on-time preventive maintenance, managing campaigns and recalls, and maintaining unit history (e.g., for washes, warranties, registrations)
  • Serve as the first point of contact for vehicle maintenance queries from transportation field teams
  • Maintaining relationships and oversight of vendors permitted to work on Amazon equipment and drive vendor adherence to service level agreements
  • Provide documentation support to ensure DOT compliance; stay aware of maintenance requirements, and support all regulatory inspections required to maintain DOT compliance
  • Contribute to team efforts by recommending process improvements
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending and participating in training
  • Monitoring for and escalating safety concerns related to Amazon employees and their contractors
  • Work with cross-functional teams. Use analytical skills to drive data-driven decision, and effectively communicate insights to others across TOM and Fleet.
Candidates must be flexible for daily overtime and varying schedules as needed. Physical demands to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation including: Standing and/or walking during a minimum ten-hour shift, some lifting and moving of packages (most weighing 35 pounds or less), walking in the FC and yard area with great frequency, manual dexterity in hands and wrist, and regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience working with computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Familiarity with the different types of transportation equipment
  • 1 year of experience with automobile, tractors, or trailers mechanical maintenance
  • Able to travel within their home node (typically a 50 mile radius)
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, in French and English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing a fleet maintenance program
  • Transportation equipment maintenance certifications
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA(R) rules, regulations, and record keeping
  • Ability to generate reports in Microsoft Excel, including using filter, sort, and pivot functions
  • A completed Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or 2+ years Amazon experience
  • Good communication skills with diverse audiences with confidence, clarity, and right focus.
  • Strong logical thinking, analytical skills, and problem solving skills.
  • Good teamwork mentality to build trustworthy and supportive working relationships.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under high pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Currently in T3 or higher position with Amazon
