Who Are We?

The Expedition Women in Leadership Program is focused on identifying, developing, and retaining high-performing diversity talent. Expedition is an 18-month rotational program with three rotations across Canadian Banking, Wealth Management, and/or Global Risk Management, giving Associates the opportunity to lead and/or support strategic projects and initiatives that have a direct impact on the bank’s strategic priorities. Expedition Associates join the bank as Senior Managers, the highest-entry-level leadership development program at Scotiabank.

Your Career as an Expedition Program Associate:

Scotiabank’s graduate development programs are designed to offer modern, skills-based learning and development that is centered around mentorship and experiential learning. We offer a blended learning and personal development curriculum that includes coaching, in-class workshops, team activities, e-learning, skill-building, and other resources in a fast-paced stimulating environment.

As an Expedition Associate, you will contribute to the overall success of Scotiabank in Canadian Banking, Wealth Management, and Global Risk Management, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. You will ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. The program consists of three rotations, each 6 months in length.

At the end of the 18-month rotational program, you will be equipped with the technical, analytical, and leadership abilities to transition into roles within different business lines.

What You’ll Do:

• Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
• Lead and develop strategy and effectiveness projects that solve business problems
• Collaborate with business lines, delivery channels, and support areas to identify and drive initiatives
• Contribute to the business development of new products and/or enhancements based on market analysis
• Work closely with senior management and a diverse set of stakeholders to drive client-focused strategies
• Provide innovative ideas and solutions to create new opportunities to build Scotiabank’s value proposition and grow client relationships.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, and its Code of Conduct, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk
• Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment
• Recommend and executes data-driven changes to portfolio-specific strategies and policy treatments
• Actively work on initiatives and strategies that deal with data, technology, governance, reporting, policies and procedures, analytics and so much more

What We’re Looking For:

• 
  Master’s Degree OR professional designation (i.e. CA, CFA, PMP) preferred
• A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience
• For some rotations in Global Risk Management, coding experience (i.e. SAS SQL, Python) and/or knowledge of Power BI and Tableau is an asset
• Experience in strategy, transformation, consulting, analytics, or project management is an asset
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in working in a Financial Institution
• Not required, but Spanish speaking is an asset
