The Corporate Services Divisionprovides valuable and accessible corporate services to support our people and the ministry’s strategic objectives. The Research, Innovation and Policy Divisionprovides research, policy and legislation support to the ministry, enabling the successful delivery of services to improve the lives of British Columbians. The division leads the government on the Poverty Reduction Strategy, and aids in poverty reduction and disability initiatives across government.

The Information Services Divisionare technology leaders, planning and delivering successful solutions with information management and information technology (IM/IT) services to both the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction and the Ministry of Children and Family. The division also provides IM/IT resource planning, decision-making, project and issues management, security and privacy functions, and desktop support. Our guiding principle is to promote a service delivery culture that is respectful, fosters positive relationships, and promotes creative problem solving with all our staff and partners in the Social Sector.

The Employment and Labour Market Services Divisionsupports all British Columbians in achieving sustainable employment. To help those in need find and maintain employment, the division works with contracted service providers to provide job search resources, employment planning, skills assessment, training, work experience and more.

Reporting to an Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) and under limited supervision, the EAA provides a well-organized and effective working environment. The position represents the ADM in a manner that supports a collaborative, service-centered environment and maintains service quality, professionalism, confidentiality, and adapts to changing priorities while meeting tight deadlines. The EAA works well independently and has excellent communication skills as well as establishes and maintains effective relationships with senior staff, this includes maintaining proper internal and external communication channels.

Job Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
  • Grade 12 plus a certificate in office administration or equivalent.
  • One (1) or more years of administrative experience.
  • Office experience working in a confidential capacity.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience providing administrative support services including calendar management; completing complex travel arrangements; coordinating, tracking, monitoring and responding to issues, initiatives and projects.
Preference may be given to applicants with 1 or more of the following:
  • Experience working with senior executives (e.g. Vice President, Senior Lawyer, Executive Director or above).
  • Experience providing administrative support in an executive office.
  • Experience with electronic file tracking systems.
  • Experience with a records management system.
  • Higher years of experience in any of the requirements.
