Position:
Web Writer, CTV London, Bell Media

Job Status: Regular - Part time

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Hours of Work: Up to 24 hours per week. Will include working evenings and weekends. Overtime as required.


Responsibilities:

  • Identify, research, and write news stories and headlines for the station’s website and social media properties in keeping with the station’s standards and style
  • Stay on top of breaking news, ensuring fresh and relevant content on the site
  • Edit, package and publish video content for CTV News Digital to serve all news platforms
  • Ensure all digital content meets the highest journalistic standards and adheres to CTV News standards
  • Share multimedia content strategically across social-media outlets in consultation with the editorial team
  • Support LIVE digital channels
  • Curate photos and build high-impact image galleries
  • As an integrated member of the news team, participate in assignment & line-up decisions and writing of stories for the newscast
  • Work with reporters to ensure appropriate coverage of news and live events


Qualifications:

  • Three years’ experience in online news production with a relevant University degree or comparable college diploma
  • In-depth knowledge of local, domestic and international news and current affairs
  • Demonstrated news and editorial judgment, strong copy editing skills, clear and concise writing ability and an excellent command of the English language.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline oriented environment
  • Knowledge of broadcast and / or digital video editing software, preferably Harris systems
  • Knowledge of news management system, preferably iNews
  • Proficient in Canadian Press style
  • Ability to identify and master social media trends
  • Knowledge of Photoshop
  • Ability to make independent editorial decisions
  • Experience in digital content design, development and production
  • Graphics design experience an asset


Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
