Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer with an interest in finance who can provide support to our team. Through volunteering with us, you will have the opportunity to increase your financial knowledge and understanding. The Financial Coordinator will manage the Finance and Accounting department by managing the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, and they will be responsible for cash processing and record-keeping of the day to day transactions in accordance with accounting reporting systems. Specific responsibilities are as follows.

  • Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization
  • Responsible for banking and other financial stakeholder relationships
  • Develops and documents processes and accounting policies
  • Analyzes revenue, expenses, and balance sheet items
  • Finance administrative tasks
  • Data entry
  • Assist with processing expenses and income
  • Carrying out other relevant tasks as required
  • Enthusiastic and committed volunteer who is willing to learn
  • Confident in using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Assist in monthly bank & account reconciliation.
  • Ensure all the financial documents are properly filed
  • Assisting in the preparation of management accounts and providing management information as required.

Qualifications

  • Having a post-secondary degree or currently enrolled in postsecondary education
  • 1+ years accounting experience within a non-profit an asset
  • Honesty and strong commitment
  • Accuracy in record checking
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Using computer programs such as Word and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written English skills

Experience, skills and abilities

  • Have worked or currently working in a finance role or studying towards a finance-based qualification
  • Accounting or Management Accounts
  • Office administration
  • Ability to organise your own work, manage your time and work on your own initiative
  • Ability to work as part of a team and value others
  • Able to work virtually
