College of the North Atlantic (CNA) is Newfoundland and Labrador’s public college. It is one of the largest post-secondary educational and skills training centres in Atlantic Canada.

College of the North Atlantic delivers its programs through a network of 17 campuses distributed across the province with additional online/blended program offerings. CNA is also active internationally, with development projects and education partnerships presently operating in the Middle East, Vietnam, China and the Caribbean.

DUTIES:Reporting to the President &Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President (VP) of Partnerships & Innovation will oversee College of the North Atlantic’s response to industry, community and individual needs throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond. As the college’s external-facing division, Partnerships & Innovation supports engagement and partnerships with industry, communities, donors, researchers, government, and other post-secondary institutions. The Vice President will bring vision, leadership, and strategic direction to Alumni and Advancement, Applied Research and Innovation, Customized and Continuous Learning, the Newfoundland and Labrador Workforce Innovation Centre, and Partnerships, Entrepreneurship, and Community Engagement.

To successfully respond to the economic changes within this province and across Canada, the Vice President must remain informed of industry developments, including technology changes; forecasting and matching program offerings to a constantly shifting labour market; responding to globalization and the increased competition for employees; and supporting the business community through innovation in applied research and technology adaptation. The Vice President will identify growth opportunities and oversee the development and implementation of innovative approaches that will advance and improve the college’s long-term viability and sustainability; mobilize knowledge, attract research and investment dollars, and engage communities; leverage the college’s capacities and assets to attract and cultivate relationships with a network of senior public and private stakeholders having an interest in skill development, applied research, or industrial cooperation (including regions and municipalities, economic development organizations, boards of trade, specific businesses and commercial interests, government departments, crown corporations, and federal organizations); negotiate the scope and terms of joint ventures, partnership agreements, MOU agreements, and research agreements; promote the college’s brand, visibility, profile and reputation as a reliable and desirable partner; and as a member of the Executive team, contribute to the effective management and administration of the college. This position will be required on-site in St. John’s, NL. Travel will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:As the ideal candidate, you are knowledgeable and experienced in attracting and managing industry and community partnerships required to develop and implement growth opportunities within and between organizations to effectively respond to the changing economic landscape. You possess the leadership skills required to execute a vision for growing the college, manage large teams, and oversee complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. You have a collaborative approach and communicate naturally, working well with others by building networks and empowering people. You are an innovative and strategic thinker who is results-oriented and able to solve complex problems with sound decision making.

To be considered for this role, you must have an extensive and relevant background in industry/community engagement with a focus on economic/business development; prior experience in a senior leadership role managing complex partnerships; and a relevant master’s degree. Experience in post-secondary would be an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PACKAGE:

Salary:PT-16 (1628 pts.) - $112,078 - $145,702 per annum

Leave: 25-35 days per annum in accordance with the Paid Leave Policy
