SUMMARY

The Manager, Utility/Energy is accountable for the integrity of utility data within information systems and for the fulfillment of client reporting and analytical obligations. In addition, the individual is also responsible for the development and recommendation of client utility budgets as well as the ongoing integrity of the utility data verification, reporting and analytical processes.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Utility Data Integrity

  • Oversees the execution of utility bill and energy consumption data verification activities to ensure data integrity within information systems
  • Reviews, develops, and implements changes to the data verification process to ensure process integrity
  • Establishes training requirements to raise understanding of utility bill information and anomaly resolutions skills of those performing the work

Energy & Sustainability Reporting & Analysis

  • Oversees the execution of reporting and analytical activities encompassing utility management, and energy & sustainability in the pursuit of Innovation Scenarios, as well as meeting client reporting and analytical obligations
  • Reviews, develops, and implements improvement to reporting and analytical processes

Energy Efficiency Optimization Opportunity

  • Oversees the execution of analytical activities performed, to identify and implement building energy efficiency optimization opportunities
  • Develop standardized maintenance plans that support energy and water use reduction
  • Prepare specifications/scopes of work for purchasing equipment/components that will improve efficiency
  • Identify means of reducing waste generation and improve diversion rates for underperforming facilities

Utility Budget Development

  • Develops and recommends utility budgets to clients
  • Conducts and reviews energy consumption forecasts, weather correction calculations, price change analysis performed by analysts

Energy Savings Projects

  • Recommends energy retrofit projects based on the results of the audits, asset management plans, re-commissioning process and carbon neutral studies
  • Supports the project management team in the delivery of other projects that have an impact on energy consumption
  • Review drawings and specification on an as required basis
  • Monitors energy retrofit project performance and intervene when systems are under-performing

Energy Governance

  • Accountable for development and execution of measurement and verification strategies related to energy & sustainability initiatives

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • University degree or college diploma in energy and building system technology or accounting, Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in good standing preferred
  • Up to 10 years’ experience that comes with demonstrated progressive experience
  • Adept at identifying issues and optimizing processes
  • Developed project management skills to lead client transitions
  • Highly advanced analytical skills for the purpose of analysis and utility budget development
  • Advanced knowledge and application of financial reporting processes including budgets and forecasts
  • Ability to interface with and manage relationship with client representatives at the middle management level
  • Computer proficiency in relational databases, reporting tools, MS Office including MS Access and MS Excel, with ability to learn new SMART Building and information management systems quickly
  • Knowledge of energy-related units and conversion calculations, an asset
  • Appreciation of utility tariff structures, utility bill generation and processing including deregulated market structures, an asset
  • Understanding of ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Certified Measurement & Verification Professional from Association of Energy Engineers, an asset
