School District No. 43 (Coquitlam)Invites applications for the position ofTrades Supervisor – Afternoon ShiftAn exciting opportunity exists within the Maintenance Department for a Trades Supervisor – Afternoon Shift. As the third largest school district in B.C. and located in the Tri-Cities of Metro Vancouver, the school district has a population of 32,000 students with approximately 4,300 teaching, administrative, managerial and support staff.This position reports to the Manager of Maintenance and under the coordination of the Trades Supervisor – Day Shift. This position is responsible for the work of the tradespersons, uncertified trades, contractors, and the security runners on the afternoon shift. A high level of independence and sound judgement will be required.Qualifications Include

• Trades Qualification Ticket
• Minimum for four relevant supervisory or management courses from a recognized college/institution
• A Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License
• One year experience as a qualified tradesperson plus one year of supervision experience including:
• Strong Supervisory, interpersonal, coaching skills
• Ability to foster and encourage teamwork and cooperation with all departments in the school district.
• Good verbal and written skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, coworkers, supervisors, district and school administration, and contractors.
