We are seeking a Lab Technician to Join our Team!

Position Overview

As the Lab Technician, you will report to the Textile Engineering Manager and be responsible for evaluating and conducting tests on textiles. We need a hands-on and communicative individual to manage and develop operational activities related to approving textiles for testing and approval on our seating products.

Responsibilities

· Design and test textiles per SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), AATCC, ASTM, ISO standard methods.

· Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify / reject various types of hypotheses as related to textiles and stretch in upholstery applications.

· Responsible for required setup, maintenance, cleaning, and operation of textiles testing equipment.

· Adhere to safety regulations and wears required PPE while maintaining ongoing training, including following SOPs, maintaining equipment, and properly documenting of lab notes and logbooks.

· Provide technical assistance and testing knowledge to enhance production and manufacturing processes.

· Create and maintain all lab test reports as well as evaluate and interpret the results.

· Document and maintain textile specifications and information.

· Organize textile swatches, textile masters and test samples.

· Assists in calibration / verification tasks and other ISO 17025 related activities.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

· At least one year of experience working in a lab.

· College Diploma or associate degree in Textile, Laboratory, Polymer, Plastic, Material, Chemistry or similar field. We offer training for employees who do not come from the textile field.

· Prior experience in material testing utilizing techniques that are defined by the industry, such as ASTM, AATCC, and ISO.

· In depth technical know-how and mechanical skills.

· Ability to effectively communicate with members of a multidisciplinary group and be a team player with a positive attitude.

· Professional, detail oriented, excellent in time management and extremely well organized with the capacity to handle several tasks and tight deadlines.

· Quick learner with an ability for solving problems.

· Prior experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

· Self-motivated, organized, and multi-tasking skills.

Supplementary

· Prior experience in working with textiles, composites, polymeric materials, plastics, fibers and yarns would be considered as an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
