VICTORIA


WSP is currently seeking a Team Manager, Buildings Electrical to join our Mechanical & Electrical Department, located at our Victoria office. WSP’s electrical engineering team in BC engages in the design of for various projects in the commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational and light industrial sectors. Reporting to the M&E Director, this position will be responsible to manage the Electrical Buildings team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting directly to the M&E Director
  • Creating and managing a team environment
  • Managing team workload, supervises daily activities
  • Managing team resources to meet project schedules and budgets.
  • Monitoring team performance and work quality
  • Engaging and communicates with clients, drives business development
  • May conduct performance reviews of direct reports
  • Oversight of major project design direction and documentation, and construction administration.
  • Thorough understanding of project tasks and deliverables and client needs
  • Comprehensive understanding and extensive experience with electrical engineering for building and infrastructure projects.
  • Communicating effectively with the design team, clients, design professionals, contractors and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Understanding, promoting, practicing and reviewing safe work procedures
  • Leading design/project delivery teams.
  • Planning and participation in business development activities
  • Developing new clients
  • Preparation of fee proposals
  • Maintaining accurate and prompt project tracking, management and billing processes
  • Maintaining established quality assurance and quality control processes
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to staff members

QUALIFICATIONS

  • P.Eng. registration with EGBC
  • 10 - 20 years of experience in consulting electrical design engineering for buildings
  • Ability to lead design/project delivery teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to represent WSP in project meetings, client meetings and business development activities
  • A “can do” attitude, an organized approach to workplace tasks and responsibilities, attention to detail, ability to manage a team
  • An extensive understanding of electrical infrastructure and building systems
  • Must possess detailed working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code and the National Building Code of Canada.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AGI and ETAP industry standard software, knowledge of documentation production through AutoCAD and REVIT platforms.
