Position Overview:
The Team Leader, Fund Accounting, provides coaching and guidance to a small number of fund accountants; assists the Supervisor in delegating workload and coordinating and monitoring the activities of the team. Performs a validation function to ensure that daily Net Asset Values (NAVs) of the team’s assigned mutual/pooled funds are calculated in a timely and accurate manner and that reports presenting financial information are accurate and delivered within established time frames.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides assistance and support to junior team members by acting as a subject matter expert, identifying opportunities for development and providing coaching and guidance
  • Reviews daily net asset value calculations completed by team members, checking for accuracy of the information used to determine fund prices; authorizes the day end prices of funds and is also responsible for the calculation of the daily net asset value for certain funds assigned to them (typically more complex in nature)
  • Contributes to the preparation and review of interim and year end distribution calculations
  • Develop and train funds accountants to become strong seniors. This would enable the managers to spend more time training and developing their supervisors and the supervisors on their Senior Fund Accountants
  • Ensures client inquiries are responded to on a timely and thorough basis
  • Assists the Manager/Supervisor in working with the Quality Assurance Officer to ensure accuracy and consistency in NAV calculations
  • Assumes the role of the Supervisor in their absence
  • Acts as the lead for engagements with internal and external audit and for certain centralized functions such as corporate actions
  • Supports efforts to centralize certain functions such as corporate actions, reviewing capital stock postings, etc.
  • Assists the Supervisor in completing various reporting requirements such as the monthly attestation, manual price list, distribution summary reports, etc.
  • Expectation is that incumbents will enroll in People Leadership learning activities as prescribed by CIBC Mellon
Qualifications:
  • Completed post-secondary education
  • A minimum of 2 years progressive experience in Fund Accounting
  • Canadian Securities Course
  • Advanced knowledge of office productivity software (e.g. Microsoft Excel)
  • Advanced knowledge of InvestOne
