Job Overview:

As a Team Lead, you will be part of our Brownfield Assessment and Development team supporting contaminated site assessments and providing input into site redevelopment potential for clients throughout Western Canada. This position is primarily office-based, but on occasion, you may be required to visit client sites.

As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for:
  • Managing diverse clients and portfolios of projects.
  • Developing and maintaining direct contact with clients and stakeholders.
  • Compliance with MEMS’ systems including project financial management and project safety.
  • Preparing proposals, including assessing project requirements and client needs, scope definition and risk assessment of the project, and developing appropriate execution plans.
  • Planning, organizing, and executing field programs, including accurate cost tracking.
  • Building and updating succinct, clean and appropriate conceptual site models for contaminated sites and environmental impact assessments.
  • Conducting site specific risk assessments and developing risk-based remedial objectives for contaminated sites of intermediate complexity with limited senior supervision.
  • Contributing to the development and evolution of mentorship and competency training programs.
  • Providing direct mentorship of staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • A service-oriented attitude with a desire to provide innovative environmental solutions to complex client sites.
  • Drive to adapt new technologies to carry out environmental investigations.
  • Motivation and drive to seek out new challenges without being asked.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in environmental sciences or similar.
  • Eligibility for membership in a professional organization such as AIA, ASPB, or APEGA/EGBC.
  • 8+ years of directly related experience in developing risk-based site management strategies.
  • Knowledge and experience with current provincial and federal legislation and familiarity with the environmental site assessment process including in urban settings and applying risk-based approaches.
  • Clear effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Excellent safety attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and independently.
  • A valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license.
  • You will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
