Summary

Reporting to the Head of Tax, the Tax Analyst is responsible for preparing and completing tax filings, handling all things tax-related under the Graham / Gvest / Gracorp umbrella, and maintaining a solid understanding of tax compliance including corporate income tax returns, partnership returns, PST returns, and GST returns. The incumbent leverages accounting knowledge to understand how to assess the correct treatment for tax, answers questions from the business on tax-related issues, performs peer review on tax items, conducts research on tax issues and prepares internal memos for the tax and finance team in addition to memos for external use. The incumbent has knowledge and familiarity working with personal tax and complex tax organizational structures, including trusts, partnerships, JVs, and corporate entities in a range of construction / real estate project development situations, and may supervise a small team of clerks or cross-functional employees, ensuring adherence to internal tax policies and procedures.

This is a 1 year Temporary Maternity Coverage Position

Role and Resposibilites
Maintain understanding of accounting information and apply taxation to that information. Interpret tax rules and regulations and prepare accurate tax compliance. Work with CRA and the business to answer technical questions. Remain current on tax regulations and how they impact the business and communicate any changes to the business and finance team. Respond to government authority tax audits and work with external auditors. Follow Graham tax policies and procedures, identify new tax issues and impacts, and provide input and recommendations on those issues. Provide policy and procedure recommendations. Carry out system testing and UAT process testing as required. Conduct research as required. Review legal documents and tax clauses. Oversee tax provisions rolling into financial statements.

Education, Experience and Knowledge Degree in Commerce, Business, or a related field is preferred. CPA/CA, CMA, or CGA designation is required. 5 years of public accounting or other relevant industry experience. Experience working with large complex financial organizations who are leading the industry in process and internal controls. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Experience working with integrated finance teams in a collaborative environment. Proficiency with ERP and SAP. Ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced Excel skills. Proven ability to apply tax legislation to a situation. Experience working with tax preparation software and research tools.
