Responsibilities

Key position functions include:

  • Install and configure network switches, firewalls and other wired and wireless LAN and WAN networking equipment.
  • Install and configure network server hardware, both physical and virtualized, operating systems and application software.
  • Manage Windows network including Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
  • Maintain and support the corporate electronic mail system according to established procedures and standards.
  • Monitor network servers, routers, switches and other network equipment for performance and other problems, taking corrective action as required.
  • Assist with maintenance of system backups.
  • Provide intermediate to advanced troubleshooting for network server hardware, operating systems, application software and other LAN and WAN networking equipment.
  • Provide intermediate troubleshooting for WAN and Internet connectivity issues.
  • Perform basic firewall configuration.
  • Create and update documentation for server and networking procedures.
  • Assist in development of new Corporate IT Services procedures and standards.
  • Provide telephone support to local and remote users for server and networking issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide server and network support outside of regular business hours on a best-effort basis.
  • May travel to remote office locations to provide on-site support.
  • Project work and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:

  • Computer-related diploma from a recognized technical school.
  • Minimum five+ years of experience in a server/network administration role.
  • Strong working knowledge/experience with administration of Microsoft Windows Server 2008+, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Azure, Office365 Administration, SolarWinds n-Central, PowerShell and networking concepts including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs and Wi-Fi.
  • Experience with WatchGuard firewalls would be an asset.
  • Network+ certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Microsoft, CompTIA, and/or other industry certifications, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized with a strong ability to think logically.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to occasionally work after hours or weekends.
  • Required to provide on-call support on a rotational basis on holidays and after hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
