Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, you will be responsible to lead the day-to-day activities of the Building Operations team. As the Facilities Supervisor you will provide training/coaching, direction, career development and scheduling to create a high functioning cohesive team. Responsibilities also include ensuring Facility and Utility systems are operating effectively and efficiently and monitor & report key facility metrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop and coach the building operations team to ensure the team consistently meets performance metrics. Address performance issues promptly and recognize individual and team successes
  • Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment with housekeeping to the highest 5S standards for the Power Engineering team
  • Maintain boiler and chiller plants in compliance with the Power Engineers Act and work with the Chief Engineer to ensure all systems are operated safely and efficiently
  • Ensure all facility PMs and calibrations are completed and reviewed on time and meet quality standards. Ensure good record keeping is performed for all maintenance and repair of facility systems on engineering work orders
  • Operate & maintain critical facilities and utilities systems, such as purified water, heating/cooling, compressed air, vacuum, environmental chambers and building monitoring, in compliance with applicable regulations. This will require you to be available outside of office hours on short notice to assist facilities team.
  • Report and Investigate non-conformances, determine root causes, and plan and implement CAPA
  • Ensure systems are compliant audit ready every day
  • Participate in and support internal and external audits
  • Monitor and strategize improvement in reliability of Utilities and report on repair, overhaul, and replacement requirements
  • Facilitate Enterprise Excellence program for the building operations team, lead Tier 1 meetings and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly targets for building operations team
  • Schedule resources to ensure that 24/7/365 coverage is provided
  • Network and maintain communication with internal and external suppliers/vendors and customers
  • Oversee the building electrical & life safety systems
  • Source and procure parts, materials and contractors
  • Coordinate work with sub-contractors to ensure work is carried out to our safety, quality and productivity standards
  • Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects

Qualifications:

Education : Registered 3rd or 4th Class Power Engineer is required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a maintenance capacity.

Knowledge: Working Knowledge of Power Engineers Act and the Steam and Pressure Plant Act. Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)

Competencies: Continuous improvement mindset, proven leadership ability, strong conflict resolution skills, excellent decision making and problem-solving ability, solid verbal and written communication, and demonstrated ability to supervise with a “Safety First” attitude.
