Reporting to the Manager - Pellet Plant, the Superintendent - Pellet Plant Maintenance will
  • Provide effective leadership to the pellet plant maintenance team by developing and clearly communicating current and future maintenance strategies to ensure the team understands their role in the organization and how the decisions they make impact both upstream and downstream processes.
  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership, lead the implementation of HSE systems and ensure policies, procedures and standards are followed and measures taken to correct non-compliance
  • Develop and coach team members
  • Drive initiatives to improve and establish a standard of housekeeping that reflects IOC’s value compliance
  • Maintain equipment availability at or above target levels by demonstrating good technical expertise in the area under supervision and, in cooperation with the members of his/her sector, identifies faults and repetitive operation or production stoppages, and organizes information gathering and analysis
  • Actively helps to improve tools, equipment, methods, and processes
  • Balance maintenance and production requirements and work to achieve them by understanding risks and opportunities weighed against potential value creation.
  • Works closely with Asset Management team.
What You’ll Bring

To be considered for this role, you will have
  • 5-10 years supervisor experience in mining processing plants or a related industry
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to effectively collaborate with others
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field or relevant post-secondary education in trades/technology

We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. With a team of over 2,400 employees, IOC is committed to providing value and continuity for our customers, employees, communities and shareholders through our unique mine to port approach, taking advantage of our full integration and wholly owned infrastructure to deliver our high-quality concentrate and pellets to our customers across the globe.

IOC’s operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly-owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles.
