The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will support the sourcing, negotiation and setup of strategic vendors in support of the manufacturing of heavy mining equipment for our Hard Rock Group at our Sudbury, Ontario location.

The position is part of a global supply chain and distribution team and will work with global vendors in support of development and continuous improvement of a quality, cost efficient vendor network.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Implement sourcing strategy including total cost development, complex commercial negotiations, sourcing project management and ensuring sufficient supplier capacity.
• Ensure that cost reduction is fundamental during the concept selection phase and all subsequent activities and introduce “Design for Cost” initiatives and other improvements partnering with engineering resources.
• Conduct opportunity assessments and identify/prioritize efforts for strategic sourcing of product components, materials and parts including R&D products through commercialization, NPD products and current products.
• Lead analytical projects, improve current sourcing procedures, evaluate raw material selection value and establish strategic sourcing plans based on raw material needs.
• Lead processes for strategic supplier selection criteria, negotiate and develop contracts with strategic suppliers.
• Perform value analysis on design and material specifications.
• Perform make/buy analysis for commodity outsourcing; manage outsourcing projects.
• Lead root cause analyses to resolve supplier issues including field failure resolution.

Qualifications Include:

• Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management or Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of experience in global manufacturing industry with solid understanding of product specific sourcing including volume sourcing, niche product sourcing and outsourced manufacturing through global supply channels.
• Minimum 3 years of experience negotiating sourcing and services contracts.
• Quality-related experience with focus on vendor performance and quality auditing, root-cause analysis and improvement.
• Strong analytical skills and critical thinker with proven problem-solving skills and ability to recommend solutions, and negotiate and execute contingency plans.
• Experience working with SAP production management software.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to communicate directly with management, cross-functional leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge of Komatsu Mining or mining industry products is considered an asset.
• Must be legally eligible to work Canada.
• Proficiency in oral/written communication in english required.
