Staff Scientist – Vaccine Hesitancy Program

Building Vaccine Confidence in Ontario and Beyond!

Science North is excited to partner with health organizations across Ontario to develop and deliver engaging science communication initiatives to address vaccine hesitancy and misinformation. With support from the Immunization Partnership Fund (IPF), Science North is ensuring that Ontarians of all ages have access to informative experiences to build strong science knowledge.

Science North’s Building Vaccine Confidence in Ontario and Beyond!project will engage audiences in age specific, culturally sensitive, community-based COVID-19 vaccine education, promotion and outreach through digital and in-person experiences.

If you are passionate about sharing and communicating science, are energized by the prospect of working with emerging evidence-based science and presenting information to the public, this is the perfect opportunity for you. The Staff Scientist will join the science program unit to develop, lead and support new digital and in-person experiences for Ontario communities, plan and deliver special events, deliver unique science experiences and help cultivate new relationships.

Position highlights:

· Perform research into on-going programming related to COVID-19 vaccination and keep current with evolving science and Canadian trends and data correlated to vaccines and COVID-19

· Develop and deliver vibrant and engaging live and recorded online content for use on a variety of digital platforms

· Engage with and build relationships with health and medical sector partners to understand vaccine hesitancy in the Canadian population

· Establish relationships and dialogue with health practitioners and researchers across the country

· Liaise with Ontario public health units and Indigenous health organizations to customize content for specific audiences and regions

As the successful candidate you will have a science background in a field relevant to human biology, biomedical science, immunology or a related discipline. You will also have strong written and verbal science communication skills in both English and French, creative development skills and well-developed IT skills. This is a full-time position running through to March 31, 2023 at a salary of $42,600 per year.
